We awoke to mostly clear skies and cold temps. It is Tue morning and we are breaking camp to head to Prince Edward Island, PEI, in Canada. We say our goodbyes to Bob and Sherry and leave the Thiboduea Towers just before 9 am. A short drive south and cross the border in Canada at teh Centerville crossing. This is a small crossing and there was no one there but us to go through. Had a wonderful conversation with the Border Agent, Mrs Canam, and she told us about the worlds longest covered bridge at Hartland.
The sign on the bridge says it is 1282 feet long. We continued along the scenic hwy 105 through some interesting countryside, but on a horrible bumpy road. We decided it was time to find smoother roadway and entered TransCan 2 near Hawkshaw and continued east. The ride on the highway was much smoother and though a hwy was through a lot of scenic country in New Brunswick. A few hwy changes led us to the Confederation Bridge and over to PEI. The bridge is 8 miles long and was a fun crossing on this windy day. We found our campground, Yogi Bears Jellystone Park just 3 km beyond the bridge and set up camp. The total km for the day was 479.5, or 297.9 miles. Fuel cost on PEI is 4.73/gal. A hour later winds in excess of 25mph began rocking the trailer. We were in for an exciting night as the winds and then heavy rain rocked us to sleep.
