We have made an interesting discovery on PEI. We can not access mediacom for our email. Mind you we are getting great wifi for everything else but can't go to mediacom for either outlook or webmail. I thought it might be a quirk on the first day, but it has continued throughout our stay. Tomorrow we will travel to Nova Scotia and we will see what happens there. The last two days we have been sight seeing on this wonderful Island. We took the two coastal drives and mixed them a bit and covered some of the southeastern part first on Thur. There is farm land and churches everywhere. Most of the churches have their own cemetery. The other thing most prevalent is lighthouses, 63 in all though only eight are open seasonally to the public. Since fishing is a main source of work, there are as many harbors as lighthouses. Many people have taken to decorating their property in a nautical motif. One of the first stops made on Thur was the Fort Amherst National Historic site. Here ...

PEI has 3 Coastal drives on the Island that would each take a day to do any justice to them. We have decided to do just that and today we will drive the North Cape Coastal Drive. This was learned by going into the visitors center in Summerside where we met the most informative individual at a visitors center I have ever met. He spent at least 30 minutes pointing out things to see and making notations on a map of the drive we would be doing today. It started with a drive by of the Heritage Air force Park where 3 retired aircraft are parked. The rain at the time stopped our walking around and taking photos. We continued the drive and as we did the weather, while cloudy, dried up and we had no more rain the rest of the day. This church was one of the first interesting sites. We stopped at an old light house and a small fishing port. We went to a church in Tignish that has a pipe organ with 1128 pipes. Those are some of the pipes in the bottom photo. We had lun...

We awoke to mostly clear skies and cold temps. It is Tue morning and we are breaking camp to head to Prince Edward Island, PEI, in Canada. We say our goodbyes to Bob and Sherry and leave the Thiboduea Towers just before 9 am. A short drive south and cross the border in Canada at teh Centerville crossing. This is a small crossing and there was no one there but us to go through. Had a wonderful conversation with the Border Agent, Mrs Canam, and she told us about the worlds longest covered bridge at Hartland. The sign on the bridge says it is 1282 feet long. We continued along the scenic hwy 105 through some interesting countryside, but on a horrible bumpy road. We decided it was time to find smoother roadway and entered TransCan 2 near Hawkshaw and continued east. The ride on the highway was much smoother and though a hwy was through a lot of scenic country in New Brunswick. A few hwy changes led us to the Confederation Bridge and over to PEI. The bridge is 8 miles long and was a fun...

We got an early start on our drive to Presque Isle where we will be staying in the yard of some distant relatives of Deb that we have never met. This is a stop to provide closure to Deb's Aunt. Bob and Sherry have offered significant hospitality including staying in their home, but we have become quite comfortable in the trailer so we will camp in their yard. The drive was made under sunny conditions, a first in several days. Colors are so much nicer in the sun. We arrived Sat afternoon and got setup before going out to dinner. It was a terrific restaurant, Cafe Sorpresso. If you visit Presque Isle this is a must stop. Friendly staff and GREAT food. Sunday was a lazy day and today, Monday is a conduct business day prior to departing for Prince Edward Island on Tue morning. Little things like an oil change, haircut and getting a propane tank filled are the order of the day. A home cooked meal to complete our stay and then to Canada. We will have wifi and email but no ph...

This entry will cover both Thur and Fri. We started out Thur morning from Camperama West River Campground in Townshend, Vt.Rode the Green Mountain scenic hwy 100 north. Stopped in Weston to visit the Country Store which claimed to have "everything". What a cool store. It did have a little of everything including old time candies. That was a real fun visit. Across the street was another place touting free Vermont cheese samples. Deb tried that and bought some maple sugar candies. The day was overcast and grey but didn't produce any rain. It simply dulled some of the colors which got more expansive as we traveled north. We only covered 198.5 miles but it was a beautiful drive through the mountains and countryside ending in New Hampshire. We ended the day at Littleton, NH and found a really nice campground called Crazy Horse Campground. To this point in the trip all the rain we have encountered has been after we were setup or while driving. Today would be different as we ...

We departed Blue Jay Campsites about 9 this morning continuing our drive through the Adirondack Park. Saranac Lake is the first place we come too and then Lake Placid, home of the US winter Olympics. We then took 9n to hwy 22 and south to Ticonderoga. Back in 2006 Deb and I rode motorcycles into Ticonderoga, with friends from Reno, and stayed at the Stone House Motel, next door to a house once occupied by Benjamin Franklin. We did not remember any of this however until totally by coincidence we stopped across the street from that very same motel. Throughout the early part of day, we rode through the mountains of the park watching as various trees showed the beginning of amazing colors changes. It was generally overcast so the colors were dulled slightly for lack of the blue sky to reflect against. We continued south on 9n to Lake George before we exited the park and continued to ride through the rolling hills and farm lands of New York. We were not allowed to leave ...

Let me start by saying how pleased I am at the number of people that have viewed the blog. I greatly appreciate those that have commented. I would ask that you somehow Identify yourself, otherwise I have no idea who is making those comments. We left the Waterloo Harbor Campground a little after 9 and continued east on Hwy 20. The first town was Senaca Falls where the first Women’s Right Convention was held in 1848. A short stop and we continued on across hwy 20 to hwy 12 north. We drove through the farm belt on 20, a lot of small farms with a vegetable stand selling their wares almost every other mile. Bought some sweet corn and a couple tomatoes the size of softballs. We drove past the Finger Lakes Drive-In, a working drive-in theatre out in the small towns of the mountains. The target Adirondack Park and we rode hwy 28 into the park where we stopped at the Adirondack Museum. This was a much larger facility than expected with multiple exhibits about every aspect of li...

Today was a travel day but didn't get started as we had hoped. The campground had turned the water off last night so our effort to get some laundry done was delayed. Since we had no definite destination we didn't mind. Today we would travel through Oh, Pa and into NY. We are set up to avoid toll roads so we are on Good highways without trucks. We end up covering 389.8 miles to a really nice campground, Waterloo Harbor Campground in Waterloo, NY. We have driven past several lakes as we are in the Finger Lakes region of NY state. The largest being Senaca Lake. No pictures of this day as we were moving most of the day. When we leave here we will be driving through the Adirondack mountains and we will be stopping and taking pictures of sights. We will see where we end up.

We had the best non-friends visit day of the trip today. A visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The trip was a 115 miles drive to Canton from Sandusky. I wasn't going to get this close without going but had no idea how special this would be. Every aspect of the game from the start in 1892. They do a special presentation, a hologram, of "the locker room" complete with lockers of some of the greats. Montana, Staubach, Long and others. 18 lockers in all and then a hologram of Joe Namath narrates the start. He introduces various players in the hall and then a hologram of them comes up and they speak to the core values of the hall. Integrity and character and how the game of football made them better as people in the game of life as well. We then saw a tribute highlight show of the most recent superbowl. It was very well done. We spent 3 hours roaming the floors and could easily have spent even more time however a return to Sandusky was needed to get to che...
