CAPE BRETON ISLAND - The CABOT TRAIL

Note: Still no mediacom email accessibility!

We left PEI Sat morning for the reasonably short run over to Nova Scotia. Less than 6 hours on half scenic and half highway roads to the Baddeck Cabot Trails Campground. Easily the nicest facilities we have had camping on this trip. Sunday we drove the Cabot Trail. I had heard about this roadway for years from motorcyclists and it matched the anticipation beautifully with the grace of a beautiful sunny day. Words can't do justice so I will just post photos.

I could post so many more. The biggest difference in the landscape between PEI and Cape Breton Island is PEI had lots of farm land and Cape Breton has much more of a forest look. Amazing number of evergreen mixed in with other types of trees.

Monday we drove around another part of the Island through Sydney. This is where the ferry to Newfoundland sails from. We visited the Fortress of Louisbourg, a reconstructed fortress founded by the French is 1713. The exhibits detailed the research that went into an accurate reconstruction, and they did an amazing job.

We had lunch at the Lobster Kettle and the best seafood chowder yet.

We returned to the campground to prep for tomorrows departure for Halifax.
