The weather forecast for Thur was rain. When we got up it had not yet started so we hustled to break camp before it started to fall. Those of you that know us well no we avoid freeways, interstates whenever possible and today was no exception. We hugged the coast as we traveled to depart Maine and even in the grey conditions the colors were spectacular. Unfortunately the weather negated photo ops. As much as we were traveling the coast we often couldn't see the water for the trees.
We stopped for lunch in Rockport at the Offshore Restaurant. I was in the mode for a lobster omelet which wasn't on the menu and when I mentioned that it should be the waitress said they could make one and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!
We crossed the border into New Hampshire and the rain began and fell in earnest. We continued driving in a hard rain for a couple hours until we reached Littleton, Ma where we found a campground and setup in the pouring rain. I am thoroughly impressed with how quickly we could setup and get inside to the cover of the trailer. Admittedly my pants were soaked but with the shower area in the trailer I had a good place for them to drip dry as we warmed up with the heater and a nice adult beverage.
Friday we found dry conditions even as the skies produced no blue. Not needing to travel far we leisurely broke camp and continued on some interesting back country roads. We traveled through Sudbury, Ma and saw some beautiful properties out on the country roads. Deb decided she wanted to know the mean income of the area based on the properties and according to google it was just shy of 200k.
Again the skies and weather made photo taking unworthy so there are no photos with this post. We landed in Bourne, Ma just off the Cape Cod peninsula and will be here for the weekend to explore this and Rhode Island. Weatherman says morning rain and afternoon clouds tomorrow and partly cloudy Sun. We will do the Cape on Sunday.
